THE CHARLIE MINGUS JAZZ WORKSHOP - PITHECANTHROPUS ERECTUS LP (ORIGINAL US MONO COPY - ATLANTIC 1237). Very well-kept 1st US mono copy of the beautiful 1956 LP from Charlie Mingus introducing Jackie McLean and J. R. Monterose on Sax, Mal Waldron on Piano and Willie Jones on Drums. Side 1 of the record (original pressing with black/silver design deep groove Atlantic labels, 1237) is in VG+ condition displaying a couple of light and minor surface hairline marks, none of which are ever heavier in nature. Side 2 is in very clean Ex condition showing only a couple of very light paper scuffs. The original heavy card picture cover is in VG+ condition - the front lamianted design in stunning order, the reverse showing some light foxing and a little pen to the bottom right corner. Without any rips, tears or seam splits and with the spine fully legible.
