An original State of California concealed firearm license application, personally completed by Elvis Presley.
Elvis had a lifelong interest in guns, dating back to his childhood in Tupelo, Mississippi, where he reportedly practiced shooting snakes near his family home. By the 1970s, his passion for firearms had grown into a full-blown obsession—he was known to carry weapons regularly and even fired at his television and one of his cars at Graceland.
Due to his frequent travels across the United States, Presley ensured he complied with local laws by filing for gun permits in each state he visited. During the early 1970s, he reportedly performed on stage with a pair of derringer pistols concealed in his boots, motivated by heightened paranoia following several death threats.
This particular application is dated and stamped "Oct 30 1970" and authorizes Presley to carry a Colt .38 revolver (serial number 2845Y) and a Beretta 7.6 automatic pistol (serial number A65258). The reverse side contains a wealth of personal data, including Presley’s full name, date of birth, driver’s license number, Social Security number, physical description (height, weight, eye and hair color), home and business addresses, and a complete set of his fingerprints.
Notably, only one other complete set of Presley’s fingerprints is known to exist, making this an exceptionally rare and collectible item. The document is signed by Elvis in blue ink and is dated “10.22.70” next to the fingerprint set. Minor age-related discoloration is present.
A remarkable artefact directly tied to one of music’s most iconic figures.
Dimensions: 20.5 cm x 20.5 cm (8” x 8”)

Previously offered as Lot 3195 in The Fame Bureau – It’s More Than Rock ‘n’ Roll Reprise Auction, held on 8 October 2008.
