Peter Hook: The New Order Collection

  Lot 355

NEW ORDER FANZINES & PRINTED MERCH ARTWORK

NEW ORDER FANZINES & PRINTED MERCH ARTWORK. Collection of 13 early New Order fanzines to include "Chapter 3 New Order", ‘Der New Order’ ‘Noise’ x 3, ‘Paradise’ x 4 and more. Lot also includes 2 brochures containing recent New Order merchandise design ideas plus proposed Warner Bros artwork for "Total".

I must admit, from an artistic point of view, being a ‘Cult’ Group as we were at the beginning, had a lot going for it and us. No-one knew quite what to make of the fact we never did interviews or talked about what we did. They were free to mystify all the fans with their theories, before we blew it! Reminds me of when I was at The Toronto Film festival for Grant Gee’s Joy Division Documentary Premiere and at the Q and A after, some bright spark asked a very loaded question... ”Peter’ he said, "For the first half of your career you never said anything and now you won’t shut up. Why is that?" F.off was the only thing that sprang to mind, but on reflection, it was all about confidence. The loss of Ian and Joy Division knocked us for a long time and the slow drag back through New Order was all-enveloping... and to be honest, I did not know what the hell to say for a long time.
