THE CLASH - 'RAT PATROL FROM FORT BRAG' ACETATE LP (THE ORIGINAL COMBAT ROCK!)

THE CLASH - 'RAT PATROL FROM FORT BRAG' ACETATE LP (THE ORIGINAL COMBAT ROCK!). An incredible piece of Punk history with this original (US Masterdisk) acetate recording of the album that would become 'Combat Rock'. Dated 1/24/82, these 2 x remarkably clean single sided acetate LPs are the very original versions of the tracks that were going to be released as an album called 'Rat Patrol From Fort Bragg'. However, with artistic differences and tensions in the band already simmering, producer Glyn Johns along with Joe Strummer 'completed' the sessions for the album (much to the annoyance of Mick Jones who had penned much of the original material) and the changes made would eventually lead to the breakup of the band.

Record one contains 5 tracks, with 'Straight To Hell', 'Know Your Rights', 'Rock The Casbah', 'Red Angel Dragnet' longer than the later commercially released versions. Record 2 contains 6 tracks with the tracks either different in length or indeed not on the final commercial release (Fulham Connection and First Nite London Back In London). The acetate LPs are in fantastic Ex condition. The playing sides show only a couple of extremely minor and wispy hairline marks, with both records playing through extremely well with only occasionally a little surface noise. There is no deterioration or any real wear to the aluminium lacuer. With printed Masterdisk labels, the tracks titles and timings are listed, 'T11221' is machine stamped on the non-playing side of record 1 (this is not present on record 2). Complete with the original (gatefold) studio stickered sleeve (has some perhaps water damage on the front).

Housed with a CD of the recording and sound clips can be heard here: http://www.ecommerceplayer.com/MediaPlayer.aspx?id=182d5981-2a14-47b2-922e-1abf1781c2b3
