FRAMUS - JAN AKKERMAN SIGNATURE ELECTRIC GUITAR - A RARE WHITE VERSION.

A 1974 Framus Jan Akkerman Signature Model, this being an incredibly rare white version. Six pickup options, semi-hollow body and with original Framus case.

Model number - 741.

Serial number - 03452

Provenance: purchased in Germany at a trade fair c 1976 and subsequently obtained by the vendor c 1978. The guitar has recently been appraised and serviced by acclaimed guitar expert Steve Clarke (Famous Frets). Steve has provided the following condition report:

This guitar was made in 1974, it was built by Framus with the finest materials at that time.

Jan Akkerman was approached by Framus around 1972 and in 1973 he went to the factory to look around and discuss details of how he would like this guitar to look and sound.

It was also in 1973 that Akkerman was voted best guitarist in the world in a Melody Maker poll, in 1974 the first guitars were being made but only in Sunburst with model number 10950 and Black 10980. The catalogue that was produced would show only these two guitars.

This guitar is in very good condition. The pickups were designed by Bill Lawrence and have a six-position tone selector for a wide range of sounds. The body and neck are of maple construction with ebony fingerboard, the controls are one volume and one tone.

The stop tailpiece has adjustment for optimum string height and intonation . The machine heads are built by German company Kolb and are of high quality.

This is an extremely rare guitar to find but to see this model in white is extraordinary. It is known that another white Akkerman belongs to a guitar Collector in Canada. The model number for this guitar was given as 03452.
