An original promotional poster issued in 1979 to promote Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures. An endlessly copied and bootlegged design, this is an original example similar to the copy sold by Peter Hook in March 2019 (lot 96). This example measures 72.5 x 96cm. VF condition with some tears, visible to upper right portion and lower portion to the middle of the poster. Consigned by former band member and manager / road manager, Terry Mason.

Original FAC10 Unknown Pleasures Poster
Halfway through the tour with Buzzcocks we collected from Factory a ream of the original FAC 10 Unknown Pleasures posters
We had up until then no merchandise for the tour, the guy running Buzzcocks’ merch, wasn’t over enamoured with dealing with our free stuff as opposed to his own stuff, and so the merch distribution was down to Twinny, Dave and myself to be conducted in the gap between after, breaking down our kit and Buzzcocks coming onstage which tended to be a bit hectic, and so by the time we got to West Runton Pavilion our stock was still plentiful. With the next and final shows were at The Rainbow where we knew there would be little chance to hand out the posters in any controlled manner at those two shows, we had an ‘everything must go’ attitude, the band and crews took what they wanted, and then at West Runton we were practically forcing the posters onto people, I rolled and stashed two away, and this is remaining one. Never seen daylight for the past 4 decades, and survived 4 house moves!
Sold for £2,700
