DARK - DARK ROUND THE EDGES LP (ORIGINAL 1972 SELF-RELEASED COPY - BLACK/WHITE GATEFOLD SLEEVE - S.I.S. RECORDS SR 0102S). Yes, it really does exist! We're proud to be able to offer for auction one of only 12 original copies of the simply mind-blowing 1972 LP from Steve Giles' Dark - often described as one of the most sophisticated records of all time. Please take note to read the full description and listen to samples of playback on our Youtube channel (this includes the first songs on sides 1 and 2). This is one of only 12 rumoured copies to exist out of a total of just 64 produced housed with a reverse-opening gatefold design sleeve. The record is graded as Fair/Good. Unfortunately, the record contains a noted warp that is likely from heat. This does cause surface noise which typically occurs on each 'rotation'. We would suggest that this surface noise tends to dissipate as the record progresses and said surface noise is only really noted at the start of each side, and can only really be noted in the quieter sections. Aside from this, the playing surfaces are in glossy condition showing a few surface marks though no heavier feelable scratches. We believe the music can still be fully enjoyed. Matrix (machine stamped) ADM LP 791 A & ADM LP 791 B with A1 DB and B1 DB etched in the runouts. The hand-made black and white gatefold sleeve is in very sharp Ex condition. The pasted images are in very clean order showing very little wear, and the handwritten title can still be seen along the spine. Only minor wear around the corners is noted.
Complete with an excellent provenance bundle - copy of 'The Dark Round The Edges Story' by Steve Giles, letter of provenance signed by Steve Giles and Ron Johnson, 'Backing Up To The Edges' CD. Will you get another chance to own the most sought-after privately pressed LP on the planet?
