Rock photographer Andy Phillips started his career working for Record Mirror and Sounds magazines. He eventually ended up working for many major record labels such as Virgin, EMI, BMG, Polydor, Phonogram and MCA. He also held both the HMV and Virgin retail photography accounts for many years. National newspapers, monthly music and trade magazines, and many independent PR companies all used his services. Prior to this he was head of press and promotions for Miles Copeland’s ‘Faulty Products’ group, covering the Illegal, Step Forward and Deptford Fun City record labels.
The collection you see here is Andy's choice from his large archives and includes many of his personal favourites. They cover a wide range of genres, and many have never been published anywhere before.
Now retired, he hopes that the purchase of these items will give great pleasure to the new owners. Also a big thank you to all those who helped me in any way, however small, in my life as a rock photographer. you know who you are.
Cheers, Andy Phillips
