A one-page letter on 'Golden Gate Travelodge' stationery, handwritten by Buddy Holly's high-school sweetheart Echo McGuire. In the letter McGuire details a trip to California as well as hoping she'll make it home in order to accompany a then 18 year old Buddy to a dinner in Lubbock. She signs off "wish you could be here with me. I'll see you soon."
Address on envelope (also handwritten) reads 'Buddy Holley, 1906 - 24th Street Lubbock, Texas'.
Letter measures 18.3 x 26.5cm. Envelope approx 19 x 10cm.
Condition: the letter is in excellent condition, with ink still bright and clear, and only very mild age wear/discolouration. Folded. The envelope shows more pronounced yellowing but postmark again is still bright and clear.
Provenance: purchased by the vendor from the David Howery Buddy Holly Collection Auction at Phillips of London on Monday 23 – 24 April 1990. With a printed COA signed by Buddy Holly's niece Cindy.
