A receipt for the sum of £12, signed in black ink by Paul Simon. The amount was paid to Paul Simon following his performance at the 'Minor Bird Folk Club' in a room above the Lion in Warrington on 8th September 1965. The vendor organised the concert along with his brother and hosted Paul SImon in their house that night before he embarked on the rest of his tour. The vendor recalls well how following his (Paul Simon's) stay with Geoff Speed in Widnes he was driven to the station on the way to catch the train to Hull. The vendor notes that it is popularly believed that Simon wrote 'Homeward Bound' at Widnes station, but owing to the fact that the train was already in the station when he arrived and had to run to board it, it is not likely he would have had the time.
Approx 11 x 7.5cm. With a similarly sized receipt for 'The Waterson Family' for a concert two days earlier.
