THE PAUL HEMMINGS COLLECTION- THE LA'S - LEGENDARY LEE MAVERS USED HONDO DANELECTRO GUITAR.

A 1980s Hondo Danelectro 'Longhorn' guitar with original hardcase, serial 1050338, used extensively by Lee Mavers in The La's both onstage and in recordings such as a 'Way Out', 'Knock Me Down' and others. Includes COA signed by Paul Hemmings and with original 8x10" photo print of the guitar in use c 1987. In Paul's words.

"I bought this guitar in 1986 in a record/music shop in Garston, run by a father and son. On joining The La’s, Lee loved this guitar as it had a longer scale neck and an active circuit which was great for solos. There are many photos of him using it plus it was used on ‘Way Out’ and various other recordings. I did buy another around 1988 and sold that to a local Liverpool band. I always kept hold of the original La’s one which is easy to identify because it’s been fitted with a scheller fine tuning bridge system which no other has . Please look at the photos. Lee said if you tuned at both ends, it would be perfectly in tune in the middle. He had a point."

From the collection of Paul Hemmings (The Onset, The La's (1987 – 1987), The Lightning Seeds (1994 – 1998). Paul says of the collection: "It was an incredibly productive/ creative time in the band (The Las) as Mike Badger had left taking his songs with him and the band was working every day on new ideas, in the legendary Stables owned by Paul Hemmings parents. Lee was very inspired. Songs like 'Timeless Melody', ' Way Out' , There She Goes', 'Feelin'', 'Knock Me Down', 'Over' ( a version recorded there ) etc etc. All ideas were captured on a cassette player and lyrics written in notepads or on the back of posters. The stables proved to be quite a special place in the band's history."

Sold for £4,200
