HOOKY'S WORK WITH GORILLAZ & DEADLINE COMICS AND GORILLAZ SONG MACHINE - SEASON ONE

I know lockdown was tough, but for me, I had a number 1 record in America with The Gorillaz track ‘Aries’... I was delighted, but was scared to death when I did the session... As usual, Damon was lovely and very encouraging. It turned out to be easy. Over the years there has been much mutual respect shown and we had a few wild nights in the 90s to say the very least. Shame I never got Alex into Freebass and Bad Lieutenant did... How weird is that? Freebass was his idea too. I remember that Q Awards after-party really well. Somehow we got locked in a toilet cubicle together and came out as Freebass! As we staggered down the corridor arm in arm, regaling everyone with this fantastic new idea... to howls of laughter... Alex’s girlfriend stepped forward and threw a drink over him... "What did you do that for!" I cried... "Hooky, his hair was on fire!" Oops! Beware those back of the cistern tea-lights.
