NINA SIMONE - SIGNED LP.

A copy of Nina Simone - Nina At The Village Gate (PXL 421) signed to front cover in black marker pen by Nina Simone, and to reverse in various inks by Al Shackman and (seemingly) Weldon Irvine. A concert programme has also been signed by Shackman.

The vendor notes RE provenance.

"In March 12th 1969 I went to a concert by Nina in the National Stadium in Dublin. After the concert was over, I went down to where the musicians were packing up their gear. I recognised the guitarist, Al Shackman, who had played with Nina for a long time. I had the record with me and asked him if he would sign it for me. He said he would be delighted, and then he said:“ Would you like Nina to sign it for you?” He took me back-stage where we met Nina’s manager. He said: “She’s very tired, she’s not up to seeing anybody right now, but if you give me the disc, I’ll get her to sigh it for you” I was thrilled, a little disappointed not to meet her but delighted that she signed the LP cover which she did with a thick black marker."
