THE BEATLES - 'BUTCHER COVER' - YESTERDAY AND TODAY LP (ORIGINAL 3RD STATE STEREO US COPY - ST 2553)

THE BEATLES - 'BUTCHER COVER' - YESTERDAY AND TODAY LP (ORIGINAL 3RD STATE STEREO US COPY - ST 2553). A solid condition original US 3rd state copy featuring one of the most controversial sleeve designs of all time! The 3rd state sleeve (this copy appearing to have had the 'trunk' cover removed) is graded in G+ condition. With strong 'integrity' (this copy would look fab framed up!), we believe that as part of the process of having the trunk cover removed, the agent used has caused some damage to the bottom section of the sleeve with the majority of it peeled (though still 'just about' intact). There has been some tape repair at some stage, this has covered over part of the 'butcher' design. The remainder of the front section is in clean order with the glue residue barely noticeable. With foxing on the reverse, with '5' next to the RIAA logo. The extremely scarce original stereo record (capitol Rainbow label design ST-2553) is in glossy VG condition with some light surface marks to the playing surfaces though no heavier feelable scratches. Matrix/runout: ST-1-2553-A-13 & ST-2-2553-B-18.

Sold for £440
