THE BEATLES - A POSTCARD SENT BY JOHN LENNON - JUNE 1979.
A postcard from the Beau Vallon Bay Hotel, Seychelles, postmarked 22nd June 1979, with handwritten message 'Dear Scott ssshh!' with signature, doodle, address and date in the hand of John Lennon. Provenance: the postcard is addressed to the vendor, who earlier that year had responded to the letter by Lennon/Ono published in the New York Times 'A Love Letter From John and Yoko...'. In our vendor's letter to Lennon, he had wished the happy couple well and encouraged them to enjoy their life and leisure and to not feel any pressure to produce any work. Something in the note clearly struck a chord with Lennon, prompting him to reply. See images for details from Hunter Davies' 'The Lennon Letters' book, inc an example of a postcard sent from the same hotel in the Seychelles, as well as parts of the original 'Love Letter', and also some similar examples of postcards from the period.
