ARTUTO TOSCANINI/CLASSICAL - ACETATE RECORDINGS. Fascinating collection of around 94 x 10"/LP acetate recordings (the releases often include more than one acetate with this count the approximate number of works with the number of acetates around double this) featuring Arturo Toscanini - of the most acclaimed and influential musicians of the late 19th and early 20th century, renowned for his intensity, his perfectionism, his ear for orchestral detail and sonority, and his eidetic memory. Believed to be private recordings from the 1940s/1950s then pressed by RCA NBC Reference Recording or Radio Recorders, works include Beethoven - Egmont Overture, Haydn - Symphony No. 99, Beehoven - Symphony No. 3, Castelnuovo-Tedesco - Fairy Tale Overture, Bossi - Intermezzi Goldoniani, Beehoven - Leonore No. 1, Bizet - Fair Maid Of Perth and Wagner - Die Meistersinger. Also with recordings believed to be private recordings from the 1940s/1950s then largely pressed by RCA NBC Reference Recording, performers/works include Serge Koussevitzky (around 19 works) inc. performing Mozart, Prokofiev, Rismky-Korsakov, Franck, Beethoven, Wagner and Tchaikovsky, Leopold Stokowski (around 15 works) inc. performing Vivaldi, Brahms, Debussy, Bach and Grieg with other performers including Jascha Heifetz, Guido Cantelli, Vladimir Horowitz, Leonard Bernstein and Josef Hoffman. Please note that some of the recordings appear to have been damaged by water which has caused the lacquer to oxidize.
