THE JOHN DUMMER BAND - "TIME WILL TELL" (BLUE) LP (UK OG - 6360 055). A lovely original UK pressing of The John Dummer Band - Blue, generously consigned to Omega Auctions by John Dummer. Interestingly the title is printed as 'Time Will Tell', this likely the working title before the album was named as Blue. This example features a Roger Dean designed die-cut sleeve and John Dummer notes:
"In the seventies my band, The John Dummer Band," recorded an album for Vertigo the title of which was to be "Time Will Tell." Roger Dean, who was commissioned to design the sleeve, suggested "Blue" would be a better title as he had created a bright red sleeve with a "cloud cut-out" and "Blue" being the opposite of red, this would work well visually. We liked the idea and the release was scheduled.
Meanwhile I was sent a finished pressing of the album to approve and the printed red album sleeve (pic enclosed) but with original suggested title "Time Will Tell" clearly viewed through the "cloud cut-out." The album was subsequently released under the title "Blue."
The record (Vertigo 6360055) is in lovely Ex+ condition with shiny playing surfaces and clean centre labels. The sleeve is in VG condition with wear across the cover as well as a small rip on the front. Includes press release.
